Hector's Girl was a rare first time out juvenile winner for Sir Michael Stoute when successful at Lingfield earlier in the month but that was on a soft surface and on this faster ground the daughter of Hector Protector may struggle to follow up. A similar comment applies to the other runner with an unblemished record, the David Arbuthnot-trained Lucky Date who, along with Sister Bluebird, has to give weight away all round. But for a disappointing effort in a York nursery last time, Richard Hannon's Looking Down would have been a confident selection and, while one bad run is often worth over-looking, the stable's runners continue to run below par. Hannon complicates matters by also saddling Miss Champers, Doris Souter, Wedgewood Star and Presto Vento with the last mentioned looking the pick on form, although she is yet to prove her worth over this trip. The TEAMtalk selection then is Caught In The Dark from the John Dunlop stable. The daughter of Night Shift has been showing progressive form in fast ground maidens recently and, with further improvement to come, she could be the answer to a tricky contest.
