Red Somerset is preferred to Nightjar and Musical Beat. The 200,000 dollars that were shelled out to buy Nightjar didn't appear to be money well spent when he was beaten by a total of 43 lengths on his first two starts in average maidens. He ran out an impressive winner on his turf debut at Warwick and may just be coming to himself - he's certainly in the right hands - but the form of that race isn't great and the handicapper hasn't taken any chances. He looks worth taking on if heading the market. Musical Beat bounced back to form when chasing home the talented Parisian Sea at Doncaster and should be suited by the return to a mile. Vicky Haigh has been enjoying a good run of form but her charge will need a career best to land this. Therefore, we're going to look to Ron Hodges' runner who finished third to Bankable over course and distance in April. He was clearly flattered to finish as close as he did that day but he's in form, on the same mark and proven over course and distance. This could be a red letter day for Red Somerset.
