Verdict

Richard Hannon has a good record in this race and Aurorian is just one of many that has to enter calculations but we'll take a chance with Almiqdaad. Derbaas is in the same ownership and is likely to be a warm order here following his highly encouraging debut in a maiden at the July meeting. He was only beaten a length that day despite not being given too hard a time of things and has an obvious chance. He's up against some well bred newcomers though and there must be some mileage in trying to find one to beat him. Michael Jarvis has sent out two juvenile winners this month from just a handful of runners and Almiqdaad is bred to be useful this year. Aurorian is pretty stoutly bred but by no means dismissed, Redding Colliery has a useful American pedigree and fetched 310,000 gns this year but Tilos Gem, Summers Target and Solar Graphite all make some appeal on paper as well. It would be no great surprise were the last two named to benefit from this outing but it's difficult to choose between the remainder and, with little to go on, Almiqdaad is no more than a suggestion.
