Verdict

A back-to-form NOTA BENE must be of interest given his decent form as a youngster and he gets the vote over Edge Closer, Abraham Lincoln, King's Apostle and Intrepid Jack. The selection is drawn in stall one and - given a decent exit from the stalls - that looks the side to be on. He has evidently had his training problems but his recent win at Great Leighs was comfortable and, proven on all types of ground, this David Elsworth-trained gelding gets the vote at a big price. Edge Closer is another recent winner, but it will be a fine effort to give weight away all round in such a competitive event. Of more interest then may be Abraham Lincoln. His stable can do no wrong this week and the return to six furlongs will be in his favour given his decent effort over five furlongs on Tuesday. Prime Defender tries cheek-pieces for the first time, whilst Tombi is a progressive four-year-old. King's Apostle should improve for his recent outing but a high draw may work against him, so of more interest could be Indian Trail who represents the king of sprinters Dandy Nicholls. Tamagin is consistent, whilst Knot In Wood is better than he has shown so far this season. Viking Spirit won well and his young jockey is not a drawback, however stall 25 may be. Intrepid Jack is another to consider on his recent second at Haydock, but it is Nota Bene who can lead them home.
