Verdict

Invisible Man won this in 2010 and was third a year ago so expect another big run despite his huge weight. Last year's first three were all drawn in the 20's and the nearest single-figure drawn was 12th so in the season's toughest handicap we'll stick with those drawn near the stand's rail. Last year's Cambridgeshire winner Prince Of Johanne is 9lb higher here but reappeared with a tremendous run in the Listed Hambleton Handicap at York and if the ground dries out he could be the one to beat. Belgian Bill, who is drawn next to him, is a cracking handicapper on his day and was narrowly beaten in the Britannia Handicap at the meeting a year ago and has to be of interest under Kieren Fallon. Lincoln winner Brae Hill has a good spot and his two subsequent defeats have been over 7f but runner-up Mull Of Killough is drawn low and overlooked. EDINBURGH KNIGHT, who is drawn 20, won a handicap over 7f here in October then a Listed contest at Kempton. He reappeared with a fine effort when fourth in the Lincoln and Paul D'Arcy will have him right for this and he gets the nod. It's just possible that the pace of the race will come on the far side in which case Dimension and Arabian Star are respected while Marcus Tregoning will have the very progressive Boom And Bust ready despite a long absence.
