        Verdict

With a maximum field, luck in-running will be required in this but a wide draw is not as much of a hindrance as might be expected, though the last two winners have come from single-figure starting positions. Mark Johnston bids to win it for a sixth time and has five entries if you include the three reserves. Soapy Stevens is on a hat-trick but Kondo Isami may prove the pick having just been collared by stable companion Dancing King over a longer trip at Doncaster 12 days ago. Nagano is making strides and the extra quarter-mile will suit while Sir Lamorak is unbeaten this year, though Leopardstown winner Sir William Bruce is preferred of the Ballydoyle trio at the weights. Parachute is respected as is the fast-improving Siskany but FIRST LIGHT could be anything after winning by 10 lengths at Ripon. He is bred for this trip and there is a chance that an opening mark of 90 could be lenient. His stablemate Marshall Plan is worth a market check and Military Mission is in good form. Surefire took a while to get organised at Leicester but stayed on strongly to score and he will be racing off a much higher mark in the future.
