Verdict

Maidens rarely win Group 3 races and Notre Belle Bete has gone backwards since fourth behind Poetic Flare in a Listed contest at Leopardstown in April. One Ruler has to carry a penalty courtesy of his victory in last year’s Autumn Stakes but this is a drop in class for William Buick’s mount after running respectably in both the 2000 Guineas and the Derby and he’s preferred to stablemate Secret Protector. The latter was treated with disdain by MOHAAFETH (NAP) in a Listed race at Newmarket last time and William Haggas’ colt is rising rapidly through the ranks and can complete the four-timer even though Movin Time, despite having only won a maiden so far, looks capable of holding his own at this level.
