With just the four horses in the handicap proper we concentrate here on Torosay Spring, Goldeva and the selection Vita Spericolata. John Wainwright's mare has only been lightly-raced this term and looks set to peak at a track where she has run well at in the past. Beaten by a better weighted horse last time at Chester she looks primed to strike her and will lack nothing from the saddle with Mick Kinane drawn to ride. Torosay Spring was most impressive at York last time out in a Group Three contest, showing a fine turn of foot to mow down her rivals. However she has been raised ten pounds for that victory and despite her looking progressive she may struggle on these terms. Goldeva sprang a surprise when winning this event last year but her recent form has been poor by her standards and may be best left alone here especially with the ground not in her favour. A live danger could come from Simianna who has a good record at this track and is at the top of her game at present. The main doubt about her is she comes her after a tough season and may not be up to showing her best in such a good race. Lochridge ran below her best last time out but the form of her win at Newbury three weeks ago would see her go very close and this return to six furlongs will obviously suit. Best of the rest may be the in-form Forever Times but the percentage call is for Vita Spericolata to give her trainer one of his biggest pay-days to date.
