JAWAAB can make the most of this drop in class by beating Mistoffelees and last year's winner Run For Ede's. Mark Buckley's charge scored over this trip two starts back off 77 and is only 2lbs higher here. That appears generous considering he's since taken third to a subsequent winner when unfavoured by a stop-start gallop and that was a more competitive race than this one, so he's taken to gain compensation. Mistoffelees makes the most appeal of the last-time-out winners, having scored tidily at Yarmouth under this rider. 6lbs higher here, he's got more to do in a better race but is the least exposed of these and could continue his progression. Run For Ede's won this last year off 7lbs lower but can't be ruled out on handicapping grounds as she showed at Windsor last time that she can be competitive off this sort of rating. She seems to go well here at Ascot and must be considered. Sgt Schultz got off the mark on turf last time and can't be discounted under this revised rating but he's better on artificial surfaces and Brouhaha isn't a certain stayer so Peintre d'Argent could be best of the rest, having acquitted herself well at York last time in a similar contest. This is a good way to round of proceedings and hopefully we can round off with a winner ourselves, with Jawaab the horse charged with the task of providing us with it.
