In depth

Verdict

Big Lachie had been running well all summer before stepping up to this grade at Doncaster and leading close home, though that was over 6f. Erissimus Maximus was 3lb higher when landing this a year ago though had arrived in winning form while Mountain Peak beat Open Wide narrowly over the track and trip a month ago but is 3lb worse off so there should be little between them again. Only Spoofing won a Navan handicap early last month and returned there to run well from 4lb higher on Sunday. Leo Minor is 7lb higher than when landing a Class 4 handicap at Newmarket so it's about time HOLMESWOOD (NAP) was winning again. Michael Dods' charge completed a hat-trick last summer and shot up the weights as a consequence but he's been running well enough in better handicaps than this and is on a lower mark than his last victory so looks the one to be
