Raising Sand was a very good third in this last year having won on the track earlier. He's been running much better than his recent form figures suggest and is back on the same mark. Firmament was well beaten a year ago but arrives in better shape having been placed in strong handicaps at Sandown and Chelmsford. Shady McCoy has an excellent record on the track but may be a few pounds high but course winner Cape Byron may have been racing on the wrong side when just touched off by Ripp Orf here last month. The winner has since run reasonably well at Newmarket and the pair of them should get involved. FLAMING SPEAR has a 6lb rise to contend with after beating Cape Byron convincingly at Goodwood. This looks a stiff task but Ben Coen's claim is a bonus and Dean Ivory's charge can go in again. Il Primo Sole ran a shocker in a heritage handicap here last time but had earlier run very well in the Britannia at the Royal meeting.
