        Verdict

        Eight fillies stand their ground for this listed race including the maiden Starfan, who was a more than respectable fourth in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac on her last start as a juvenile. With her stable in good form John Gosden's twice-raced filly has solid claims on her reappearance. Ian Balding's Lochridge has not shown as much speed as her dam Lochsong but has shown enough ability to suggest there is a race of this nature in her, while Dusty Answer did nothing wrong when opening her account at Kempton in August. Monturani has had the benefit of an outing this term, having found only Camaret too good in a traditionally hot Newmarket maiden at the Craven meeting, and could make her fitness tell.
