Relegation-threatened Yeovil and play-off-chasing Colchester played out a 1-1 League Two draw at Huish Park following a lively second half.
After a nervy first half with few opportunities, the game sprung into life eight minutes after the break when Jake Gray hit a left-footed shot from the edge of the area that squirmed underneath Colchester goalkeeper Dillon Barnes.
Then as Yeovil celebrated, Barnes kicked home midfielder Tristan Abrahams as he tried to retrieve the ball and was shown a straight red card.
Despite now being down to 10 men, Colchester had a great opportunity to level the scores just four minutes later when Frankie Kent was left unmarked from a free-kick, but the U's captain cannoned his header off the crossbar.
Barnes' replacement Ethan Ross was then called into action at 1-0 to tip a Tom James free-kick over.
The visitors did find an equaliser after 75 minutes and it came from Kent's defensive partner Tom Eastman as a corner was flicked on and the centre-back side footed a volley into the bottom corner to clinch a point.
