Alexis Mac Allister, Leandro Trossard and Yves Bissouma scored as Brighton strolled to a 3-0 victory against Wolves to condemn them to their fourth loss in five games.

The win takes Graham Potter's side into the top half of the table, with Brighton moving up to ninth, five points behind eight-placed Wolves, who have now lost three games in a row without scoring.

Brighton have now reached their highest ever total in the Premier League with three games still to play. Their previous best came in the 2019-20 season when they finished with 41 points.

Mac Allister opened the scoring with his second effort from the penalty spot, after seeing an earlier first-half penalty hit the post. Danny Welbeck was brought down by Willy Boly, with goalkeeper Jose Sa unable to keep Mac Allister's penalty out despite getting a hand to it as he dived to his right-hand side.

Brighton looked increasingly comfortable but had to wait until the 70th minute to double their lead. Moises Caicedo won the ball and released Welbeck on the right, with Trossard timing his run perfectly to latch onto the striker's pass and cut inside Joao Moutinho to bury past Sa.

Bissouma, who was making his return to the side, compounded Wolves' misery when he added a third with a low drilled effort from the edge of the area after Wolves failed to properly clear Marc Cucurella's cross.

Wolves' best effort came with the last kick of the match when half-time substitute Pedro Neto struck the post with an injury-time shot across goal.

Wolves boss Bruno Lage: "When you come from this performance that we gave for the 90 minutes, there's nothing much to say. We didn't come to play, we just watched Brighton play.

"They deserved the three points because they played better, especially in the second half, when they were winning 1-0, and we didn't have the ability to play our game.

"All I can say is that it was 90 minutes that we just watched Brighton to play. It was the worst performance since the first day."

Brighton boss Graham Potter: "Everything about the performance I liked. We defended when we had to but also offered a threat going forward, and it was nice to score three goals.

"We have had some good away days this year and that was up there. You could see the second-half performance was up another level from the first and the boys looked hungry to score and enthusiastic to get forward.

"It was also important for us to keep a clean sheet because we didn't want to let them back in the game and we managed the situation quite well."

What's next?

Wolves face Chelsea away next weekend in the Premier League as they look to solidify their place in the top half of the table. A tricky end to the season for Bruno Lage's side sees them host Manchester City, then play relegation-threatened Norwich before going to Liverpool on the final day.

Brighton will host Manchester United on Saturday in the Premier League. The game will be live on Sky Sports Premier League from 5pm; kick off 5:30pm. The Seagulls' last two games of the season sees them go to Leeds before hosting West Ham.
