Two brilliant brilliantly taken goals in the last five minutes from top scorer Tom Bradshaw gave Walsall a hard-earned 2-0 win over managerless Doncaster at the Banks's Stadium.
Bradshaw had been kept in check until the 85th minute when he volleyed home a rebound from Kieron Morris' shot, then he raced onto a pass from substitute Jordan Cook and chipped in to clinch the points with his seventh of the season.
After Jason Demetriou volleyed just over for Walsall, Doncaster, who axed Paul Dickov earlier this week, went close in the 10th minute when James Coppinger met a cross from Richard Chaplow with a clever overhead kick which home goalkeeper Neil Etheridge did well to block on the line.
Etheridge was in action again, smothering a firm drive from Cameron Stewart before, in the 18th minute, a great through ball from Romaine Sawyers put Bradshaw clear, yet he stubbed his foot as he attempted to chip the advancing keeper Thorsten Stuckmann.
And only a brilliant save by Etheridge denied Rovers the lead when he somehow reached a stunning Aaron Taylor-Sinclair's free-kick from the edge of the box late in the first half.
And in the second half Etheridge, who was voted man of the match, saved superbly from Coppinger and Taylor-Sinclair before Bradshaw's late brace denied Rovers in their first game since Dickov was sacked.
