Swansea 2-2 Tottenham: Christian Eriksen double denies Swans

Christian Eriksen scored a free-kick in each half as Tottenham twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

Andre Ayew opened the scoring in south Wales on 16 minutes with a superb header, but Spurs drew level as Eriksen's 27th-minute free-kick wrong-footed Lukasz Fabianski.

Harry Kane's unfortunate own goal then handed the initiative back to the Swans four minutes later, with the England striker slicing Jonjo Shelvey's corner beyond a helpless Hugo Lloris.

The second half continued in the same fashion as the first as both sides readily exchanged blows, before Eriksen's sumptuous set-piece on 65 minutes levelled the game for the second time.

Spurs headed into the game in buoyant mood having won their previous three Premier League outings - the latest a 4-1 triumph over Manchester City- but it was the hosts who took an early lead.

Jefferson Montero, who was recalled to the Swansea starting line-up, vindicated his inclusion as he made the most of a defensive error by Kyle Walker to set up Ayew to head in his fourth goal of the season.

It was Swansea's first goal from open play since Bafetimbi Gomis' winner against Manchester United in August. But the hosts failed to build on their opener and Spurs were level within 11 minutes.

After Federico Fernandez's foul on Dele Alli, Erisken's whipped effort caught Fabianski off-guard and sailed straight into the back of the net to level the game.

Fabianski would have been disappointed with his part in the equaliser but Swansea were soon back in front. Kane's near-post clearance went horribly wrong on 31 minutes as he swiped at Shelvey's corner and beat Lloris at his near post to restore the hosts' lead.

Kane looked to atone for his first-half error two minutes after the restart as his neat touch and control in the box allowed him to gather Ben Davies' cross, but Fabianski was on hand to deflect the ball away from goal.

Montero, who had been a constant threat to Walker throughout the first half, continued in the same fashion after the break, but Gomis failed to make the most of his lofted ball to the back post, heading over on 48 minutes.

A dip in tempo of the game from Swansea allowed Eriksen to draw his side level for the second time. There was no debate over Fabianski's involvement this time around as the Poland international was left helpless as Eriksen exquisitely found the top corner.

Kane seemed reluctant to shoot at goal when opportunities presented themselves and Spurs had to turn to Alli, Eriksen and substitute Andros Townsend as they went in search of a third.

They could not find a way through, though, with the hosts limiting Spurs to long-range efforts. And Swansea almost snatched the three points themselves as Fernandez saw a late header tipped onto the bar by Lloris.

The result sees Swansea's winless run in all competitions extended to six games, although they rise to 11th in the table while Spurs remain eighth on 13 points.
