Shrewsbury 0-1 Crewe: King helps Crewe reign at last
Saturday 19 September 2015 21:09, UK
Adam King's early goal proved enough to earn Crewe their first win of the season as they pulled off a 1-0 victory at Shrewsbury.
The decisive goal came as early as the second minute. Home defender Jermaine Grandison was dispossessed just inside his own half and the visitors broke quickly, with midfielder King drilling a low shot from 20 yards into the bottom corner of the net.
The Railwaymen nearly doubled their advantage shortly afterwards when Brad Inman fired narrowly wide from the edge of the penalty area.
It was all Shrewsbury for the remainder of the first half but an equaliser somehow eluded them. Jordan Clark clipped the top of the bar from the edge of the box after being picked out by Tyrone Barnett while Abu Ogogo headed just over the bar.
Crewe keeper Ben Garratt also had to be alert to save a low shot from Larnell Cole before Clark pulled a shot just wide shortly before the interval.

Shrewsbury continued to push for an equaliser in the second half but Crewe, well led by skipper Harry Davis, defended strongly.
Garratt did well to divert a low shot from the lively Cole wide and the on-loan Fulham man also blazed over from close range.
Crewe might have doubled their lead late on but substitute Marcus Haber headed a fine cross from Chris Atkinson off target.
