Sevilla 0-0 Levante: Eduardo Berizzo oversees draw after returning from cancer treatment
Friday 15 December 2017 22:44, UK
Eduardo Berizzo's return to the Sevilla dugout delivered some defensive steel but no cutting edge up front as Levante ground out a goalless draw at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Boss Berizzo, back on the touchline following prostate cancer surgery, was a frustrated observer as Sevilla were humbled 5-0 at Real Madrid last time out in LaLiga.
Levante went close in the first half through Villarreal loanee Enes Unal before, at the other end, Ganso had a chance to open the scoring with a header.
It was Sevilla who survived the biggest scare before half-time as Jason's powerful free-kick hit a post.
The hosts were less nervous in the second half and as the hour mark approached Wissam Ben Yedder cannoned an effort off Levante goalkeeper Oier after being set up by Pablo Sarabia.
Ben Yedder was denied by Oier's leg before, in the 76th minute, Jesus Navas entered the fray to make his 416th appearance for Sevilla - a club record - but neither side could force a winner.
