Ronan Curtis scored one goal and made another as Portsmouth cemented their four-point lead at the top of League One with a dominant 2-0 win over Walsall at Fratton Park.
Pompey dictated the first half and should have had a penalty when Nicky Devlin clearly dragged down Gareth Evans in the box only for referee Alan Young to wave away their appeals.
Midfielder Ben Thompson also drilled a long-range shot wide before Oliver Hawkins opened the scoring in the 25th minute.
Republic of Ireland international Curtis' deflected cross looped kindly into the path of Hawkins, who headed in from close range at the far post.
Jamal Lowe made amends for an earlier miss by teeing up Curtis to make it 2-0 four minutes into the second half as the Irishman beat Liam Roberts at the second attempt after seeing his initial effort blocked.
Pompey would have scored a third but for a stunning acrobatic save from Walsall goalkeeper Roberts to turn Nathan Thompson's 20-yard pile-driver over the crossbar.
