Billy Bodin boosted Torquay's survival bid after scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win at Portsmouth.
It was the first time the Gulls had ever scored at Fratton Park and gave the Gulls a vital three points in their attempts to retain their Football League status. Jayden Stockley nearly gave the visitors the lead after 19 minutes when he latched on to Bodin's knockdown and forced Portsmouth keeper Trevor Carson to parry his strike away. Bodin then blasted Torquay ahead after 28 minutes when Pompey failed to stop Joss Labadie's charge into the box. His cross from the right was nicely dummied by Stockley, allowing Bodin to convert at the far post. Portsmouth showed far more cutting edge after the interval with Ricky Holmes' pace causing problems on the left but Ben Chorley blasted a golden opportunity high over the bar with two minutes to play. Then, as time ticked down, substitute Wes Fogden turned in the box and blasted a shot high over the top in the first minute of stoppage time. Portsmouth had calls for a penalty waved away moments later, when Kevin Nicholson appeared to handle in the Torquay box, as the struggling outfit clung on for a historic victory.
