Portsmouth ended their three-match winless run after goals from Matt Tubbs and Ryan Taylor saw off Luton 2-0 at Fratton Park.
Pompey took charge after just three minutes when a Jed Wallace ball into the Luton box was brilliantly flicked home by Tubbs. The Hatters failed to seriously threaten their hosts in the first half hour. But they were nearly gifted a leveller after 35 minutes when Portsmouth keeper Paul Jones blasted a clearance straight at Luton's Cameron McGeehan. Fortunately for the Blues, the ball bounced wide of the target. Alex Lawless also came close four minutes later when a fierce pile-driver from 25 yards whistled just over the bar. Luton dominated the opening exchanges of the second half, but Pompey nearly went two ahead on the hour, when Wallace's strike from the edge of the box struck the foot of the post. The Blues did find the net again after 62 minutes when Luton failed to deal with Wallace's cross and Taylor fired home. Hatters' Luke Wilkinson saw a header cleared off the Pompey line by Dan Butler with two minutes left as the visitors drew a blank.
