Miles Storey starred as promotion hopefuls Portsmouth smashed a woeful Carlisle side 3-0 at Fratton Park.
Craig Westcarr and Storey's first-half goals ensured Pompey were in command before Danny Hollands made sure of the points. Carlisle then saw Hayden White sent off late on to cap a forgettable afternoon following their long journey to the south coast. It took just two minutes for the home side to grab the advantage as Westcarr slotted a Storey assist past goalkeeper Dan Hanford in the Carlisle goal. The away side went close to equalising four minutes later via Patrick Brough, but the midfielder's effort bounced inches wide of Paul Jones' post. Storey then doubled the home side's lead with less than half an hour gone on the south coast as he smashed home a delightful delivery from Ricky Holmes. Carlisle improved immensely in the second half, but Hanford was still the busier of the two goalkeepers. And the Welsh goalkeeper was forced to pick the ball out of his empty net for the third time when Hollands struck in the 74th minute. The Portsmouth captain's left-footed shot was the icing on the cake for Andy Awford's side, who moved two points from the play-off places.
