Port Vale 1-1 Stevenage: Spoils shared at Vale Park
Saturday 19 October 2019 20:28, UK
Port Vale and Stevenage shared the points after a bad-tempered 1-1 draw at Vale Park.
Jake Taylor had given the home side an eighth-minute lead, but the visitors equalised not long after through Kurtis Guthrie's contentious penalty.
On-loan Nottingham Forest midfielder Taylor put Vale ahead when he slotted in David Amoo's cross.
Stevenage levelled matters 15 minutes later when referee Peter Wright pointed to the spot after centre-half Scott Cuthbert appeared to have his shirt pulled in the area.
Guthrie stepped up and sent home goalkeeper Scott Brown the wrong way, much to the ire of Vale's players and supporters, who furiously protested the referee's decision.

The home side should have regained the lead when David Worrall was put through by Amoo, but he forced a fine save from Stevenage goalkeeper Paul Farman at close range.
Stevenage had the better of the second half, with Brown denying Guthrie, Kelland Watts and Charlie Carter, while Farman made a stunning save to keep out Vale striker Ritchie Bennett's 25-yard thunderbolt.
