Port Vale 3-2 Chesterfield: Vale victorious again
Saturday 21 November 2015 20:45, UK
Port Vale followed up their FA Cup win at Maidenhead less than 48 hours earlier by recording a third straight Sky Bet League One victory as they beat visitors Chesterfield 3-2.
Chesterfield dominated the opening exchanges before Vale took the lead with their first attack to spark a spell of three goals in five minutes.
Sam Kelly drove a low right foot shot from 14 yards inside Tommy Lee's right hand post after the visitors failed to clear their lines in the sixth minute.
Chesterfield levelled two minutes later when the Vale defence could not deal with Sam Morsy's ball into the box and Lee Novak side-footed a right foot volley inside Jak Alnwick's right hand post from 10 yards.
But Vale soon regained the advantage when Kelly's low cross from the left was put away with a low right foot shot by Ajay Leitch-Smith. Lee could have done better as he dived to his left while the ball passed to his right.

There were further chances at both ends before Vale extended their lead three minutes into the second half.
Anthony Grant made a surging run from the middle of the park before setting up Louis Dodds who took a touch before firing in a low shot from 15 yards. The ball clipped the inside of Lee's left post on its way into the net.
Chesterfield did apply late pressure and substitute Rai Simons cracked an impressive consolation goal when his shot flew into the top left hand corner of Vale substitute goalkeeper Chris Neal's net in the 90th minute.
