Midfield talent Jermaine Anderson continued his hot goalscoring streak to earn Peterborough a 2-1 victory over struggling Fleetwood.
The England Under-20 international scored for the third successive match when heading in Michael Smith's right-wing cross with 13 minutes to go.
That proved to be the decisive goal at the ABAX Stadium although Posh were reliant on a stunning save from captain Ben Alnwick to wrap up victory.
Alnwick tipped a shot from Fleetwood loan debutant David Henen onto the crossbar four minutes later.
Fleetwood had earlier hit the top of the bar either side of half-time through a long-range Joe Davis effort and a glorious Antoni Sarcevic chance.
But it was Posh who hit the front when Souleymane Coulibaly converted a Callum Elder cross with his first touch in the 57th minute.
Fleetwood replied courtesy of a substitute of their own. David Ball, who spent 18 months as a Posh player earlier in his career, had been on the field for 10 minutes when converting Henen's pass from 12 yards on 67 minutes.
Anderson then settled the issue before substitute Marcus Maddison and Jon Taylor both missed glorious late chances to extend Posh's lead.
