Wolves kept up their bid for automatic promotion with an emphatic 3-0 victory at Oldham on Tuesday night.
Kevin McDonald, Michael Jacobs and substitute James Henry all scored in the second half as Kenny Jackett's team earned their first win in five away games. Both sides had chances in an end-to-end first half with Wolves going closest when Nouha Dicko blasted an 18-yard shot against the crossbar. Oldham goalkeeper Mark Oxley made good saves from Dicko and Jacobs, while at the other end Aaron McCarey did well to deny Oldham forward Jonson Clarke-Harris. Wolves went ahead after 50 minutes as Jacobs found McDonald, who drilled a shot into the bottom corner of the net from just outside the box. They could have doubled their lead just three minutes later but Oxley pulled off a superb reaction save from Dicko. Oldham enjoyed a spell of pressure but McCarey kept out a Gary Harkins piledriver before James Dayton fired wide. Wolves sealed victory after 89 minutes when Sam Ricketts picked out Jacobs and he swept home a first-time shot from 12 yards. Jackett's men struck again in injury time when Dicko's effort deflected into the path of Henry and he could not miss from close range.
