Oldham’s change of owner failed to bring an upturn in fortunes as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Plymouth.
The Latics, who were officially taken over by Moroccan businessman Abdallah Lemsagam on Friday, remain in the League One relegation zone following their ninth successive match without victory.
Plymouth went in front after 17 minutes through Antoni Sarcevic after he lashed home a volley into the bottom corner from 12 yards following Graham Carey's deft header.
The visitors lead was doubled just two minutes later when Oldham keeper Johny Placide could only parry Ryan Taylor's fierce shot, which Ruben Lameiras prodded home to the delight of the travelling fans.
Oldham should have replied before half time, but Craig Davies fired off target and was also denied by an excellent save from Argyle goalkeeper Remi Matthews.
The hosts gave themselves hope nine minutes after the restart when Davies crossed from the left, with Plymouth defender Yann Songo'o miscuing a clearance into his own net.
Oldham came close to an equaliser through Kean Bryan's glancing header but it was brilliantly clawed out by Matthews to ensure victory for the Plymouth, who remain unbeaten on the road since November.
