Danny Philliskirk grabbed the only goal as Oldham earned a 1-0 victory over Fleetwood at Boundary Park.
The Latics' first win of the season came in a close-fought contest which saw Fleetwood badly let down by their finishing.
The visitors should have scored after just two minutes, but unmarked captain Antoni Sarcevic volleyed over from six yards.
Oldham goalkeeper Joel Coleman denied both Stephen Jordan and Conor McLaughlin, while Fleetwood wasted another chance when Jamille Matt miscued his shot.
Oldham broke through in the 36th minute when Rhys Turner flicked on a long ball and Philliskirk drilled home inside the far post from 12 yards for his second goal of the campaign.
The home side had a clear-cut opening to double their lead, but Lee Croft somehow missed the target from four yards after a fine cross from Joseph Mills.
At the other end Danny Andrew latched on to Sarcevic's pass, only for Coleman to touch his volley round the post.
The result brought a first win in management for rookie Oldham boss Darren Kelly.
