Carlisle bounced back from three straight league defeats to earn a surprise 1-0 win at promotion-chasing Oldham.
Boundary Park had its biggest crowd of the season, 8,564, after Oldham slashed ticket prices, but the Cumbrians' substitute Craig Curran was the match-winner. Oldham could have taken an early lead as Reuben Reid pulled wide and Filipe Morais saw a blistering drive beaten out by Carlisle goalkeeper Adam Collin. Carlisle's Ben Marshall went close from 20 yards, but Collin denied the home side again after a fine run by Cedric Evina and then tipped away Oumare Tounkara's effort, while Oldham substitute Warren Feeney produced a tame finish when well placed. The deadlock was broken 10 minutes from time as Marshall's right-wing cross deflected to Curran for a tap-in at the far post. There was more drama to come with angry exchanges sparking a brawl, which saw Oldham assistant manager Gerry Taggart sent off for clashing with visiting players and the outstanding Collin had the final word with another superb save to keep out Morais.
