Nigel Pearson says Leicester won't be over-confident about their recent run of form when they take on bottom of table Burnley

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has warned his players not to get carried away with their recent form, as they battle to avoid relegation.

The Foxes have won three matches in a row to move off bottom spot in the Premier League for the first time since November and only goal difference separates them from safety.

However, ahead of Saturday’s trip to bottom side Burnley, Pearson is not getting too excited with his side's recent upturn in form.

“My perspective on it is that we’ve worked very hard all season,” he said. “We’re still in the bottom three so I’m not really too concerned what other people are saying.

“We’ve given ourselves a better chance than we had three weeks ago, but that’s what it is, it’s a better chance. There’s an awful long way to go and the majority of the games we have left will have a bearing on sides around us.”

'Danger'

A draw against relegation rivals Burnley at Turf Moor could be enough to lift Pearson’s side out of the bottom three this weekend, but when asked how big a boost that would be, he added: “I don’t know we’ve got to achieve it first and foremost.

“It’s where we finish at the end of the season that is the important thing. The danger is that there is an assumption the hard work’s done.

“Far from it, there is a lot of hard work to be done and I think for the integrity of the competition and to give everybody a realistic chance, we have to be trying to win every game that we play.

“I wouldn’t suggest we haven’t done anything other than that this season, we’ve found it tough this season there’s no doubt about that, but we intend to keep the work ethic and hopefully performances we’ve had for the majority of the season.”
