Millwall will refund all of their supporters who bought tickets in advance for Wednesday’s 4-0 defeat at League One Bradford in the FA Cup.

The Sky Bet Championship club have made the gesture following the disappointing display in the third-round replay, which resulted in Millwall missing out on a money-spinning tie against Chelsea in the fourth round.

Millwall confirmed on the club’s official website that chairman John Berylson wished to reimburse travelling Lions fans for their loyalty.

A statement from Millwall read: “Following Wednesday night's FA Cup third-round replay defeat to Bradford City, Millwall chairman John Berylson has decided to refund the cost of match tickets for the 456 Lions fans who purchased their tickets in advance of the game.

“He wishes to thank everyone for their continued support during difficult times and has pledged to facilitate further squad strengthening with a view to seeing results improve in the very near future.

“An announcement detailing the refund process will be released in due course.”

On behalf of the players, I would like to extend the apology to supporters because they deserve a lot more than what we are offering up at the moment.

There were a total of 611 Millwall fans in the crowd of 11,859 for the tie at the Coral Windows Stadium where Millwall were reduced to 10 men after only six minutes following the sending off of Mark Beevers.

Meanwhile, defender Alan Dunne has admitted the under-performing players are letting the Millwall supporters down.

He told the club's website: "On behalf of the players I would like to extend the apology to supporters because they deserve a lot more than what we are offering up at the moment.

"We understand the frustration and hurt in the stands and it is about time we put things right.

"The manager and his coaching staff have been excellent with us and done all they can to take us forward.

"We are letting the fans down at the moment, as well as the manager and the chairman, and it is time to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and man up."
