Premier League: Brendan Rodgers felt Liverpool got what they deserved against Leicester
Friday 2 January 2015 08:31, UK
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admitted his side did not deserve more than a point after they lost a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Leicester City at Anfield.
The Reds led 2-0 through two Steven Gerrard penalties before the Foxes scored two goals in two minutes - from substitute David Nugent and Jeffrey Schlupp - to snatch a point.
Rodgers said: "I think it shows you the competitive nature of this league. Leicester obviously played very, very well, and we obviously scraped a point out of it. I thought when we were 2-0 up in the game they were better than us and we never really got started.
“We showed character and a resolve to keep going and we had a chance at the end to nick it. Certainly a point was the minimum they would deserve because they played very well.”
Both of Liverpool's penalties were given for handball, with Wes Morgan and Danny Simpson the players deemed responsible.

Rodgers added: "We are obviously disappointed at being 2-0 up as the first goal we gave the ball away so cheaply and did not defend well enough.
"It was interesting because we had a plan in place in terms of after the opponent scores or after we score - that five-minute spell where we have an idea of what to do - and unfortunately we failed to do that.
"Today we weren't tight enough on the ball, didn't keep it for long enough and our passing was slower than normal.
"We didn't start the game well and were fortunate to get a penalty, which gave us confidence."
Rodgers hopes to have Daniel Sturridge in his squad later this month, once the striker returns from the United States where he is working on his recovery from injury.
