Premier League: Mauricio Pochettino rues missed chances after Tottenham lose to Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino insists Tottenham must be more clinical in front of goal after watching side his squander plenty of chances in their 3-0 defeat at Chelsea.
Spurs lost ground in the race for the Premier League top four after goals from Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba and Loic Remy helped Jose Mourinho’s side maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table.
Despite the resounding scoreline, Pochettino believes his side created enough opportunities to find the net but bemoaned his side’s lack of cutting edge in front of goal.
He told Sky Sports: “We tried to score. We tried to create chances but in the second half we were hit by another counter-attack. I think we deserved to score but it’s 3-0. It’s a difficult result but this is football and we played against a very tough team.
“It’s disappointing because I think we started the game very well but the first chance they had they scored.

“After we made another mistake and conceded to go 2-0 down, Chelsea are a side in a comfortable situation and when the score is positive for them they play on the counter attack.”
Spurs missed chances in the opening stages through Jan Vertonghen and, in particular Harry Kane, before Chelsea showed their clinical touch in front of goal.
While Pochettino remained disappointed with the result he believes his side can take plenty of positives back to White Hart Lane.
He added: “I am very positive. We are a team in a good way at the moment and our performance today was proof of that.
“We are not happy with the result but we take plenty of positives away.”
