Premier League: Garry Monk pleased to see Swansea winning games again
Sunday 26 October 2014 11:47, UK
Garry Monk was pleased to see Swansea get back to winning ways against Leicester following a five-match run without one.
Having opened the season with three straight successes, the tide had started to turn in south Wales.
Monk concedes that any spell without victories in the Premier League will bring with it ‘a little bit of pressure’.
He is, however, of the opinion that Swansea have been unfortunate in recent weeks and that they finally got what they deserved at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
Monk told Sky Sports: "The five games that we haven’t won, we have played very, very well and deserved a lot more than we have actually got.

"But, at the end of the day, the points are what they are, whether you deserve them or not. So it’s important today.
"There was a little bit of pressure on us, not too much but a little bit and I think the players handled that very well and in the end got a deserved win."
Asked for his take on a match settled by two well-taken Wilfried Bony goals either side of half-time, Monk added: "Very pleased with the first-half, I thought we did very well and were moving the ball well enough.
"Especially the goals today, some of the movement and patterns in training came off, not just today but in a number of games that we’ve done. That’s pleasing to see.
"The second-half was a little bit scrappy, but it was always going to be that.
"Leicester were very determined and were throwing everything at us, but I thought we defended well enough and earned the three points in the end.”
While delighted to have taken the spoils, Monk concedes that there are areas for Swansea to improve on.
He said: "I talked about it afterwards with the players, I said: ‘When teams come like that second half, because they have nothing to lose, we just have to be that little bit braver with the ball, pass it a little bit better and our decision-making has to be that little bit better and sharper in order to catch teams on the counter or keep the ball for longer periods’.
"That’s something we talked about and something we’ll work on."
