Steven Reid helped West Brom establish themselves as a Premier League club in his four years at The Hawthorns and the defender hopes he can have the same effect at Burnley.
The Baggies earned an unwanted reputation as a "yo-yo club", due to a series of promotions and relegations, alternating between the top-two tiers of English football.
Since 2010, though, they have finished inside the top 10 twice and are currently embarking on a fifth consecutive Premier League campaign, with Reid having been part of the previous four.
The former Republic of Ireland international, who visits his old side live on Sky Sports Super Sunday, insists West Brom's growth during that time should be seen as an example to other promoted clubs.
"It was four years of success," said Reid, reflecting on his time at Albion.
"The club had been labelled a yo-yo club - being up and down in most seasons in the Premier League – but, overall, I look back at four years of success and four years of Premier League football.
"I think it's a model that no doubt Burnley are going to be looking at as it's a similar sort of squad.
"I was involved in the squad with West Brom that got promoted as I was there on loan. It's a similar size of squad and club so it's a model that we'll be looking at and we can do that ourselves over the next few years."
The Clarets are without a win so far this season and, despite keeping three clean sheets in a row, they have failed to score in 526 minutes since Scott Arfield gave them a shock lead against Chelsea in their opening fixture.
However, Reid can recall a time when West Brom were given an even bigger baptism of fire upon their return to the top flight in 2010.
"We got off to a terrible start, we got beat 6-0 off Chelsea away," he explained.
"So straight away there are doubts in the players' minds but soon after that we picked up and within four or five games we were in the top four in the table and then went to The Emirates and won.
"I don't know what the turnaround was because to start like that the doubts creep in and you think it could be the same old story of one season in the Premier League and getting relegated.
"But a lot of the players that had been involved in the yo-yo years had grown and matured and got international experience.
"It was a really solid group, similar to the group we've got here with a lot of British players through the spine of the team.
"It's important that you have that spine of home-grown players and that can help generate a good atmosphere and a knowledge of the club.
"It's important that you've got a group of players who know the ins and outs of the club that can get around those who come in and let them know what it means to the club and the surrounding area."
