Danny Welbeck was a relieved figure after scoring his first Arsenal goal in the 3-0 win at Aston Villa on Saturday.
Welbeck set up Mesut Ozil for his opener on 32 minutes before taking a pass from the German two minutes later to score the Gunners' second and his first following his deadline day move from Manchester United.
“I am particularly pleased to get off the mark for Arsenal,” he admitted. “But I think it was a good team performance. We started really well. We moved the ball well and obviously we got in behind them at times and that was the difference today.
“We knew facing Aston Villa was going to be difficult. There is never going to be an easy game in the Premier League. They had their chances but, once we took our first one, from then on we looked in control of the game."
Welbeck says he will improve as he trains more and develops an understanding with his new team-mates.
“I’ve not had as many training sessions as I would have liked but I am starting to get to know the players a lot better and, in time, I’m sure the understanding between us will be much more positive.”
