Wales move up to 11th in the FIFA world rankings, following their successful Euro 2016 performance, above England who have dropped down to 13th.
Wales went into Euro 2016 ranked 26th in the world but are now the top-ranked team in Britain.
Gareth Bale and his team-mates returned to a heroes' welcome in Cardiff after their shock exploits in France, where they fell 2-0 to Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in the semi-finals.
They beat Slovakia, Russia, Northern Ireland and Belgium, the world's second-ranked team, to reach the last four.
In the latest FIFA world rankings published on Thursday, the Dragons have accumulated more points than any other side in the standings, gaining 291.
England have dropped down two places, since the rankings were last published at the start of June, into 13th.
The news follows the Three Lions' disappointing European Championship campaign which ended with a 2-1 loss to Iceland (now ranked 22nd) in the last-16 stage of the competition.
Argentina have retained their place as the No 1 team in the world despite losing the 2016 Copa America final to Chile on penalties, the third time in the last three years they have fallen at the final hurdle in major international tournament finals.
Northern Ireland reached the last-16 stages of Euro 2016, but have dropped down from 25th to 28th. Republic of Ireland, who went out at the same stage, have risen from 33rd to 31st.
Scotland, who did not qualify for the Euros but played two high-profile friendlies against Italy and France which resulted in losses, have slipped from 43rd to 50th.
