Danielle Carter is targeting a regular place in the England team ahead of Euro 2017 after launching her international career with two hat-tricks against Estonia.

The Arsenal forward marked her debut last September with a treble in Tallinn and scored another hat-trick on her second cap in the 5-0 defeat of Estonia at Meadow Lane on Thursday.

Carter, who was selected in the Women's Super League team of the year at the PFA awards in April, also scored Arsenal's winner against favourites Chelsea in May's Women's FA Cup final at Wembley.

England manager Mark Sampson's team will cement their place at the top of Euro 2017 qualifying Group 7 if they avoid defeat to Belgium in Leuven on Tuesday and Carter is fully focused on the challenge ahead.

"It was a nice achievement," Carter said. "Once we finish I can enjoy it but for now it's all focus on Belgium.

"I'm excited and delighted to get more and more caps and I've scored a few goals now. I don't just want to play Estonia in my career.

"The bigger picture is the Euros next year and I want to be involved in pretty much every fixture leading up to that."

The 23-year-old was first brought into the England team three years ago, but has found it hard to become a regular feature in the squad since Sampson was appointed in December 2013.

"It's taken a bit longer to impress Mark," Carter added. "I've still been involved with England at different age groups, but everyone's got a different time that they're going to make their mark and mine's taken a bit longer than the others.

"For me it was just a matter of time, and obviously I want to stay here for many years. You need to have that, have the confidence to do well.

"If you look at the likes of Diego Costa, Luis Suarez, you've got to have that self-belief, that self-confidence."
