It was deja vu for Danielle Carter as the Arsenal forward's second international cap matched her first, with a hat-trick against Estonia as England Women won their Euro 2017 qualifier 5-0.

Carter, who made her debut in an 8-0 win in Tallinn last September, scored twice in a one-sided first half at Meadow Lane to sandwich a goal from Jill Scott.

She was on target again in the 56th minute and Karen Carney scored an injury-time penalty as England moved back ahead of Belgium, their opponents in their final group seven match in Leuven on Tuesday.

The opener came in the ninth minute when Carter controlled Scott's low cross, turned and finished inside the far post.

It was 2-0 when Carney and Demi Stokes linked up down the left, Stokes' cross was scuffed against the crossbar by Nikita Parris and Scott headed in the rebound. Carter poked in to make it three on 17 minutes.

England could have had more before the break as Parris headed wide and blazed over the bar from a good position, while goalkeeper Getter Laar denied Carter and Jordan Nobbs went close from 20 yards.

Captain Steph Houghton headed Carney's corner over early in the second half and Carney fired just wide from distance.

Another dangerous Davison cross almost led to a Pille Raadik own goal, Houghton's free-kick was beaten away by Laar and Nobbs volleyed wide late on.

Carter almost volleyed a seventh goal in two caps as the game ticked into stoppage time, but there was to be a fifth for Mark Sampson's side as Carney won and converted the late spot-kick.
