Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani scored hat-tricks as Paris St-Germain picked up a 9-0 record-breaking victory against Guingamp

Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe scored hat-tricks as Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain crushed bottom club Guingamp 9-0 on Saturday.

Neymar scored twice while Thomas Meunier was also on target as PSG avenged Guingamp's League Cup quarter-final win earlier this month.

PSG - who have a huge tally of 62 goals in 19 games - are now 13 points ahead of second-place Lille with two matches in hand. However, the win was marred by an injury to midfielder Marco Verratti, who limped off after 18 minutes.

Neymar opened the scoring in the 12th after taking down a long pass from Dani Alves, cutting inside a defender and finishing sharply with his right foot.

He then set up Mbappe in the 37th after they swapped passes and his fellow striker side-footed the ball in.

Just before half-time, Mbappe grabbed his second after Cavani tackled defender Felix Eboa Eboa on the edge of the penalty area and the loose ball rolled to him.

After the break, Guingamp fell apart as Cavani netted a second-half treble, Neymar had a goal confirmed after video reviews showed it crossing the line, and Mbappe swept home from close range to get his hat trick.

Thierry Henry's Monaco suffered a calamitous 5-1 home defeat to Strasbourg as their battle to avoid relegation from the top flight looks increasingly bleak.

Monaco did not recover from the seventh minute dismissal of defender Naldo for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, as goals from Ludovic Ajorque and Adrien Thomasson gave the visitors a 2-0 lead.

Radamel Falcao reduced the deficit on 22 minutes but Monaco fell apart after the break, despite Strasbourg also being reduced to 10 men in the 69th minute following Stefan Mitrovic's red card.

Ibrahima Sissoko made it 3-1, Ajorque added his second and Youssouf Fofana completed a comfortable win for Strasbourg with the fifth in added time.

Former Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo scored the only goal of the game in the 41st minute as Toulouse got back to winning ways with a 1-0 success at Nimes.

Remi Walter's penalty deep into added time salvaged a point for Nice in a 1-1draw at Reims, who had looked on course for victory through Remi Oudin's early strike.
