Nottingham Forest will fight any compensation claim made by Rangers over the appointment of Mark Warburton, Sky sources understand.
The Sky Bet Championship club are adamant they broke no rules in appointing former Rangers boss Warburton as the new manager at the City Ground.
Rangers chairman Dave King on Friday accused Forest and Warburton of engineering the manager's move away from Ibrox, and says he is taking legal advice on how best to seek reparation.
Sources at Forest have made it clear the club made no approach to Warburton, or his assistant David Weir and director off football Frank McParland, while they were still employed by Rangers and say talks began only once they had left the Scottish club.
All three men were appointed earlier this month by Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi.
