The 19-year-old proved himself up to the task in the Europa League semi-finals against Celta Vigo with a stunning free-kick in the first leg and a brilliant assist for Marouane Fellaini in the return fixture at Old Trafford.

Mourinho took time to commend Rashford's work ethic after his winner in Vigo and the young England international admits that praise meant a lot to him.

Rashford told Premier League Productions: "It's a massive thing when a manager like him says that.

"The best thing about it is that you've earned it. He didn't just come in and say 'there you go - play every game'. He's made us all work for his trust and respect.
