Timothy Fosu-Mensah still has an outside chance of making Manchester United's squad for the Europa League final, according to Jose Mourinho.
The Dutchman suffered a shoulder injury after coming on as a late substitute during last month's Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium, and it was initially feared he would miss the rest of the season.
But his recovery is progressing well and Mourinho confirmed the 19-year-old could be available for the game in Stockholm against Ajax on May 24.
"Fosu-Mensah has a little chance to be ready [for the final]," said Mourinho. "But even this kid is trying everything because the others [who are out injured] are impossible."
With Eric Bailly out through suspension, and Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young and Zlatan Ibrahimovic ruled out through injury, the return of the versatile Fosu-Mensah - who can play in defence or midfield - would be a welcome boost for United.
Fellow 19-year-old Axel Tuanzebe has taken advantage of Fosu-Mensah's absence by starting at right-back for United against Arsenal and in midfield against Tottenham on Sunday.
