Premier League: Southampton manager Ronald Koeman happy with Swansea win
Sunday 21 September 2014 08:33, UK
Ronald Koeman was relieved as Southampton earned a hard-fought win at Swansea to make it three wins in a row and move them above their opponents in the Premier League standings.
Victor Wanyama's first Saints goal ended the resistance of 10-man Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.
Wanyama struck with an excellent angled finish to clinch a 1-0 away win just as the home side - who had Wilfried Bony sent off six minutes before half-time for two bookable offences - looked like withstanding intense second-half pressure from Southampton.
Although Koeman was left unhappy with his side's first-half showing, he was pleased to come away with the points.
"Even 11 against 10 it was very difficult because with good organisation, they played with good pressing and we didn't play well at the start. We lost too many balls which was not at the level we expect," Koeman told Sky Sports.

"Our attacking was not at the level that we expect, but in the second half when it was 11v10, it was a little bit more controlled and more dominant and I think we scored a great goal.
"Both teams didn't create a lot (in the first half). Both played at a good level and we expected a tough game and it was.
"Victor came into the game at a high level and brought the spirit the team needed at that moment and he scored a great goal.
"I'm happy about the result but not happy about the first half because we didn't play at our level against a good, strong team, but everything is going well at the moment."
