Marvin Emnes would love to be part of Swansea’s squad to take on Southampton on Saturday after bouncing back from injury.

The former Middlesbrough man turned his previous loan spells at the Swans into a permanent move in the summer but suffered a knee injury before competitive action could get underway.

The 26-year-old returned to action for the club’s development squad on Monday in their 2-1 defeat to Cardiff and he is now hoping to play some part against the Saints as Garry Monk’s side look to build on a positive start to the campaign.

In pre-season I was playing well and having good training sessions, and I felt really sharp. To pick up an injury was very difficult but it's great to be back now.

Emnes told the South West Evening Post: “I was looking forward to playing games again and I now have that chance.

"In pre-season I was playing well and having good training sessions, and I felt really sharp. To pick up an injury was very difficult but it's great to be back now.

"I finished last season quite well and after a good pre-season I was really looking forward to the first game of this year.

"When you get injured it is always disappointing, but the team is playing really well at the moment and I'm looking forward to getting back and helping my team-mates as soon as possible.
