Premier League, Sky Bet EFL and Scottish leagues: Permutations this weekend

Norwich, Sheffield United, Luton and Bury can all win promotion this weekend, while six EFL clubs could also be relegated.

As the football season enters its final weeks, we look at the permutations across England and Scotland ahead of the weekend's action.

Premier League

The Premier League title race rumbles on, with Manchester City's win at Manchester United moving them back to a point above Liverpool with three games for both left to play.

Tottenham can guarantee a spot in the top four if they beat West Ham on Saturday lunchtime, Arsenal lose at Leicester and Manchester United drop points against Chelsea on Sunday.

Cardiff can't be relegated this weekend but they could be left in huge trouble if they are beaten by Fulham and Brighton defeat Newcastle on Saturday.

That would leave the Bluebirds six points adrift of both Brighton and potentially Southampton, should they lose at home to Bournemouth, but with a far worse goal difference than both.

Norwich are already on the cusp of promotion to the Premier League, and just a point against Blackburn on Saturday night will guarantee their return to the top flight.

Even a defeat would be enough for the Canaries if Leeds fail to beat Aston Villa on Sunday. There are six points between the sides heading into the weekend, with just two games left to play.

Sheffield United, meanwhile, are three points clear of Leeds and their vastly superior goal difference (+35 to +24) means that a victory over Ipswich on Saturday evening would all-but guarantee their promotion. They will guarantee it if they better Leeds' result.

Norwich will also win the Championship title if they better Sheffield United's result. All three of those games are live on Sky Sports Football.

West Brom and Aston Villa have both booked play-off spots and will likely face each other in the semi-finals. There are two points between the pair (West Brom on 77, Aston Villa on 75) with the prize for whoever finishes fourth to have the second leg at their home ground.

Derby (67 points) currently occupy sixth spot, but Middlesbrough (also 67) and Bristol City (66) are still in the hunt. Derby and Bristol City meet at Ashton Gate on Saturday, and both have a game in hand on Boro in midweek.

Sheffield Wednesday (63 points) and Swansea (62 points but with a game in hand on Boro and Wednesday), also still have a slim chance.

Ipswich and Bolton have already been relegated from the Championship and Rotherham are currently favourites to join them.

Rotherham (22nd with 40 points) trail Millwall by three points, but Millwall also have a vastly superior goal difference and a game in hand. The Millers will be relegated if the Lions better their result.

Reading could also still theoretically go down, but it would take a huge goal difference swing for that to happen as they lead Rotherham by six points.

Sky Bet League One

Luton will be guaranteed promotion if they win and either Portsmouth or Barnsley fail to win. A draw will also be enough if Barnsley lose. Barnsley are in the top two but can't win promotion this weekend.

Portsmouth, Sunderland and Charlton are all guaranteed play-off spots, while Doncaster currently occupy sixth on 69 points. Behind them are Peterborough - on 66 and with a game in hand - and Coventry (64), who both still harbour hopes of catching them.

Bradford have already been relegated and will be joined by Walsall if they lose against Peterborough on Saturday. A draw or even a win may not be enough, either, if other results go against them.

If they draw, any two of the following things happening will put them down: Southend avoid defeat, Plymouth avoid defeat, AFC Wimbledon win, Scunthorpe win. Walsall will also be relegated if they win and Southend and Plymouth both win.

Scunthorpe will be relegated if they lose and Southend and Plymouth win, while AFC Wimbledon will go down if they lose and the same two teams win.

Sky Bet League Two

Lincoln secured the League Two title on Monday, but could still be joined by two of five teams in the third tier next season.

Bury (77 points), Mansfield (76), MK Dons (76), Forest Green (73) and Tranmere (72) are all still in the hunt for promotion with two games to spare.

Bury will be promoted if they win and either Mansfield or MK Dons fail to win.

All of those sides are guaranteed at least a play-off spot, but there are still a host of teams below who could take seventh. Exeter (66) occupy the final place heading into the weekend, but every team down to Swindon (61) in 14th, can still mathematically make the play-offs. Newport and Oldham are four points adrift of Exeter but face each other in a game in hand next Tuesday.

Down at the bottom Macclesfield currently have the edge in the battle for survival. They have 40 points heading into the weekend, while Yeovil and Notts County both have 38.

Both Notts County and Yeovil could be relegated if they fail to win and Macclesfield win.

National League

A point will be enough for Leyton Orient to seal their return to the EFL on the final day of the National League season.

Orient (88 points) are three points clear of Salford City and Solihull Moors, but have a better goal difference than both (+38, +33, +30). Defeat on Saturday would also see them over the line unless there is a significant goal swing.

AFC Fylde, Wrexham, Harrogate Town and Eastleigh are all already guaranteed play-off spots.

Aldershot Town, Havant and Waterlooville, Braintree Town, and Maidstone United have all been relegated.

Scottish Premiership

Celtic will win the title this weekend if they better the result of Rangers. Neil Lennon's side host Kilmarnock on Saturday lunchtime and a win or draw would take them 12 or 10 points clear of Rangers, who host Aberdeen on Sunday. Both games are live on Sky Sports Football.

Dundee can't mathematically be relegated this weekend but defeat at Motherwell would leave them on the brink of the drop. They currently trail St Mirren by six points and Hamilton by eight with just four games to spare.

Scottish Championship

Ross County are already all-but promoted but would guarantee the Scottish Championship title and their return to the Premiership if they avoid defeat against Queen of the South on Friday night.

County are six points clear of Dundee United in second with just two games to play, but they also have a far better goal difference (+26 to +8).

If Queen of the South lose then Falkirk can't be relegated on Saturday. If they draw then Falkirk will be relegated if they lose and Alloa avoid defeat.

If Queen of the South win, then Falkirk will be relegated if Alloa better their result.

Scottish League One

Arbroath have already won Scottish League One, while Forfar Athletic and Raith Rovers are guaranteed a spot in the play-offs.

Montrose will take fourth and the final play-off spot if they at least match the result of East Fife this weekend. Montrose head to Forfar while East Fife travel to Stenhousemuir.

Stenhousemuir will be desperate for a win to help their survival fight. They are currently bottom of the table, below Brechin on goal difference with two games to play. Defeat for them and a win for Brechin at Raith will leave them needing a huge swing on the final day to survive.

Scottish League Two

Peterhead will secure the Scottish League Two title and promotion if Clyde do not better their result. They lead them by four points with two games to play. Peterhead face Stirling Albion at home, while Clyde host Queen's Park.

Edinburgh City and Annan Athletic are already assured of the other two play-off spots.
