Ghanaian defender close to making move to France
Jonathan Mensah claims he has agreed a deal with Evian and is all set to sign for the Ligue 1 newcomers.
The Ghana international has grown disillusioned with life in Italy at Udinese after struggling to force his way into the first-team picture.
A move to France has been touted for some time, with newly-promoted Evian keen to add him to their ranks.
Mensah has revealed that he is now all set to make such a switch, with a medical passed and a long-term contract waiting to be signed.
"I am very, very happy that this is done," the 20-year-old centre-half told
KickOffGhana.com.
"My mum always told me to grab opportunities when they come because it may come once and I want to grab this opportunity well."
Assurances
Mensah spent last season on loan at Spanish side Granada and helped them to secure promotion into the Primera Liga.
He admits he would have welcomed the opportunity to turn out in the Spanish top flight, but believes he is more likely to get the game time he craves in France.
"It would have been nice to play in La Liga but I wanted assurances I will get my opportunities and did not get them," he said.
"I will work hard here and hopefully get that."
