New Zealander dreaming of European switch

Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen are reportedly interested in New Zealand international Leo Bertos. According to the German press, the 28-year-old is on the Bundesliga outfit's target list as the club look set to lose superstar Mesut Ozil this summer. Werder's international ambassador Wynton Rufer, a former All White, said the report came as no surprise given the winger's form in the World Cup. "I've had German press ring me and asking me but I'm dealing directly with the clubs," he told the Dominion Post. "They're all speculating on the names because they all did well in the tournament."

No offers

Wellington Phoenix star Bertos made no secret of his desire to play in Europe but admitted he has yet to receive any offers. "Not yet," Bertos responded when questioned whether he had any offers on the table. "We'll see what happens over the next week or so but I haven't really turned the phone on. "You want to play at a big club, in a big league somewhere, Premier League, Serie A, whatever. That's always been a dream."
