Italians not impressed by three-match suspension

Fiorentina are to appeal against Massimo Gobbi's UEFA Champions League three-match ban after the Italian's dismissal against Bayern Munich. The 29-year-old was shown a straight red card by controversial referee Tom Henning Ovrebo during his side's 2-1 last-16 first-leg defeat at the Allianz Arena in February. Gobbi was adjudged to have intentionally elbowed Arjen Robben in the face, but replays suggested that his arm was only slightly raised. Fiorentina are therefore set to submit an appeal to Uefa regarding the suspension as they prepare for the second leg in Italy on 9th March. Gobbi's red card was among a number of talking points from the first leg as Ovrebo allowed Bayern's winning goal to stand, despite Miroslav Klose standing in an offside position. Ovrebo was the referee at the centre of Chelsea's semi-final defeat to Barcelona last season.
