Burnley trio Stephen Ward, Kevin Long and Dean Marney sign one-year deals

Burnley have announced Stephen Ward, Kevin Long and Dean Marney have each extended their contracts with the club by one year.

The three players' contracts were due to end next summer but the new deals mean they will be with the club until 2018.

Defender Ward joined the Clarets, who face Watford live on Sky Sports 1 on Monday Night Football, in 2014 from Wolves and has been a first-team favourite, racking up 42 appearances. 

Earlier in the summer, the Republic of Ireland international became the first Burnley player to represent their country at a European Championships finals.

Midfielder Marney and defender Long are the two longest-serving players in the first-team squad, having arrived in 2010. 

Marney, who has previously played for Tottenham and Hull, has made over 200 appearances for the club and was crucial in ensuring their promotion back into the Premier League last season.

Former Republic of Ireland U21 player Long has made 27 first-team appearances and has also spent time on loan at Accrington, Rochdale, Portsmouth, Barnsley and MK Dons.

Burnley are 16th in the Premier League, having suffered losses at home to Swansea and away at Chelsea and Leicester.
